Flow coaters are designed for the uniform application of base coats and top coats. The equipment is utilized in conjunction with vacuum metallizing and sputter-coaters. Flow coaters accommodate parts on rods which are installed on reels for transport to the vacuum chamber. The flow coater gravity feeds base or top coats through many small holes in a reservoir. The parts are washed in a curtain of the coating material as the reel rotates. The excess coating material is filtered and recirculated. The reels continue to rotate through the flash-off zone and the heat zone, which improves coating uniformity.
